Bethany Beach
Bethany Beach is a small coastal town in Delaware. It’s known for its wide, boardwalk-backed beach. North of town, Delaware Seashore State Park is a barrier island with miles of beaches between Rehoboth and Indian River bays and the Atlantic Ocean. To the south, Fenwick Island State Park has dunes and a surf area. The shoreline, fields and forests of Holts Landing State Park attract birdlife like herons and osprey.
Ocean City
Ocean City is a resort town in the U.S. state of Maryland between the Atlantic Ocean and Isle of Wight Bay. It features miles of beach and a wooden boardwalk lined with restaurants, shops and hotels. At the boardwalk’s southern end, Trimper’s Rides has hosted theme-park attractions for decades. The surrounding waters are active with kayaks and tour boats, some of which journey to popular Assateague Island nearby.
Fenwick Island
Fenwick Island and its neighbors to the north, Bethany Beach and South Bethany are popularly known as “The Quiet Resorts”. This is in contrast to the wild atmosphere of Dewey Beach and the cosmopolitan bustle of Rehoboth Beach. Fenwick Island, however, is somewhat less “quiet” than “the Bethanies” because it is immediately across the state line from Ocean City, Maryland, which has a reputation as a lively vacation resort.
